Interesting article on defense news about South Korea considering building and operating light aircraft carriers. The article hints that a first step may be a purchase of used Harriers from the USA, UK or Spain. I am sure the US Marines will be desperately clinging to all of their harriers with the threat of sequestration and the delays in the F35B program and I am unsure how many Spain could part with. Could this possibly see the South Koreans flying the Fa2 Sea Harrier? The planes are still in storage in the UK and the Koreans have a habit of reactivating retired aircraft recently purchasing the S3 Vikings from the US Navy. |
