+Melina M I recently learned that the USA has the oldest floating commissioned warship in the world, the USS Constitution. (Commissioned in 1797. Technically the British have an older ship, the HMS Victory, but she's been in dry-dock since the 1930s.)
The below picture is of the USS Constitution under her own power for the first time in 116 years. In 1997, after a 3 year, $12 million dollar restoration, she went on a tour of the Nation. Her escorts consisted of the frigate Halyburton and guided missile destroyer Ramage.
Also depicted below is USS Constitution rendering a 21 gun salute to the Nation, as the sailors of her escort ships "manned the rails" and overflown by the Blue Angels.I don't know about you, but I count this picture as one of the most badass images ever captured.
