Royal New Zealand Navy’s frigate HMNZS TE KAHA waved goodbye to Queens Wharf, Wellington today.
The frigate, which is headed for Albany, Western Australia, was saluted with a tug spray to mark the 100th anniversary of the departure of the first WWI troop ships to Albany, this day in 1914.
Two CentrePort tugboats, TIAKI and TAPUHI escorted the vessel as far as Point Jerningham.
TE KAHA’s first destination is Devonport in Tasmania, then Albany in Western Australia.
