Peter Dilley, Aircraft Fitter, Air Frame – it was a formidable piece of equipment.
Peter Dilley Petty Officer, Aircraft Fitter Air Frame, talks about the Avenger “The Avenger was built during WWII 1942 and became the mainstay of the American Navy, but the Royal Navy took several squadrons of them later. They had none in actual squadron service at that time but it was a very formidable piece of equipment as it carried a sizeable torpedo. Several British Squadrons operated in that theatre using similar equipment”.
