My dad’s full name is Cedric William John Burns – he was always called Rick Burns here in Australia.
My dad would be 76 now if he were still alive – born 23/9/1939. I know dad was 21 when I was born in Feb 1962 and I was born in Auckland while they were living on the Navy base. He would have left the Navy probably around 3 years later. He joined the Navy at or before age 17 (might have been younger) and I know that he sailed with HMNZS Taranaki on its maiden voyage from England in 1960/61. While in England he met and married my mum Jacqueline (Jackie). She came out to NZ on a ship with a number of other women. I also know that dad was on a ship at the Christmas Island bomb tests which I think was in 1957.
I would love to be able to know more.
