HMNZS Kaniere – a Loch Class Frigate at Sydney, 1949.

Of interest the Dido-class cruiser HMNZS Bellona is in the left background, while two more Loch class are berthed in the background at top right. The outboard one appears to be F 424, HMNZS Pukaki, and the inner one has a broad funnel stripe, so would have been the frigate squadron leader. Kaniere with the ‘half stripe’ on the funnel is the squadron deputy leader ( based on the relative seniority of the ships’ commanding officers)..
