This photograph from September 1914 shows a warship and a troopship berthed at Auckland’s port during the opening months of the First World War.
HMS Philomel, New Zealand”s first naval ship, is visible on the right-hand side berthed against the Quay Street jetty No. 2. On the left-hand side is the troopship Waimana.
